It came out on iTunes in some Southeast Asian countries, and it’s the theatrical version.
Seriously? In Japan, there is nothing but Blu-ray talk.
I could only confirm the trailer, but I wonder if the master of the video is the international version?

I spent many hours restoring it.
Great work there!
MKV v1.5 released!
PM me if interested.

In v1.5, the video switches to 4K77 at 02:26. It will look more comfortable than v1.0, which uses the Silver Screen Edition as is.
Check out our sample videos.
Since my goal is to reproduce the 1982 Theatrical Japanese version, I have decided that a DNR version is not appropriate.
It would be wiser to wait for DEED v3.0, even if it is a remaster.
Sorry for the late update.
I’m having a little trouble with file size and other issues.
Might temporarily release a lighter sized MP4, 720p using Despecialized Edition v2.7.
Update:
Wait for v3.0 1080p.
Cinemas only had 2K showings from November to the end of May, and I honestly don’t need UHD BD.
But, I did make a reservation, though.

Can’t wait until September!
It’s a collector’s edition, right? Then you need the theatrical version!
Don’t imitate Lucas, Director Shinkai.
Good stuff!
Will this dub be timed to match 4K77? Either way, I’ll send you a PM!
Yes, both versions are synchronized. A little more until we can officially release it.
Also, only VHS casts are supported for special editions.
ESB Revisited: also used for Japanese Dub, but the new dialogue is terrible compared to the VHS.
It is obvious if you compare the Hoth WIP video and v1.0. In v2.0, I would like to change as much as possible to VHS,
with the exception of the dialogue in the Special Edition. Plus, we need to support 5.1 sound.
Out of curiosity, are there big differences between the dubbed versions of theatrical and TV versions?
The Empire Strikes Back Japanese Dub List:
1980 Theatrical
1986 TV
1990 VHS
1992 TV
The translations are basically the same except for the theatrical version.
I can verify, the Japanese dub in my collection is the “home video” dub, taken straight from the GOUT – this is just mislabeled here. Harmy uses my collection for a lot of his dubs, but he may be open to supplementing from other sources.
I generally don’t include more than one dub per language in my own collection, for space reasons. I opted for the home video dub because it’s a trilogy-complete, voice-matched set.
Yes, that is the best option.
However, it would be ideal to see the trilogy with the cast of the 1985 version. I wish they would broadcast it like Titanic.
So that’s how it was. My apologies for that.
Can other Japanese dubbing be added in v3.0?
If you need the 1982 AC3, I will share it with you via PM.
The Japanese dubbing in v2.7 is not the 1978 version.

1978 LP (50 min audio only)
1982 Theatrical
1983 TV
1985 TV
1989 VHS
2002 Special Edition TV
v2.7 is the 2006 version with the opening narration removed from the VHS.

This project is now obsolete. If anyone else wants to reproduce this, I recommend using the Japanese LD FY570-35MA subtitle.
In addition to the VHS version, v2.0 will include dubbed versions of the theatrical and TV versions.
The 1992 edition is still undecided.

What source(s) were used for the theatrical footage?
Footage of the theatrical release version is only available in trailers and other media.
The only way is to do it like the Despecialized Edition.
