ROTJ Rewrite Treatment
Time

I posted this on Reddit a few months ago and I was wondering what you guys here would think about it. I’m always looking for feedback and (constructive) criticism

Also, I think I may have overstuffed this rewrite by adding in Mara Jade, I forgot R2 and 3PO a lot and I don’t think I did a good job giving Leia any sort of arc)

We open on Vader’s shuttle going from the Executor down to the dirty and dingy city planet of Had Abbadon which is also the capital of the Empire. The shuttle touches down in front of the Imperial Palace. Vader then travels down a long elevator into the throne room, which looks the same as the real ROTJ except the scaffolding is in the midst of a cave above a lake of lava while the window is actually a screen.

The Emperor chastises Vader for continually failing to capture/kill Luke. Vader tries to interject about how Luke will turn soon but Palpatine silences him and says that he has been given too much freedom of late and that he will dispose of Vader if he fails again. Vader leaves and returns to the shuttle. While in the shuttle flying back, he talks to holograms of several admirals (including Thrawn) about overthrowing Palpatine.

Meanwhile back in the throne room Palpatine calls for his hand (Mara Jade), telling her to find and either capture or kill Luke before Vader gets to him first. She says his will shall be done.

We then cut to Dagobah where Luke is climbing a mountain with Yoda on his back. They reach the top and travel into a cave filled with Kyber crystals but also a huge Rancor-ish monster. However, Luke successfully uses the force to pacify it and put it into a deep sleep. He then takes a green crystal and goes back to Yoda’s hut. There the aged jedi master instructs Luke on finishing his new lightsaber. After this is complete, Yoda says he needs rest and the scene goes similar to the real movie with Luke getting confirmation that Vader is Luke’s father but there is also the revelation that Obi Wan was ordered by Yoda not to tell the truth to Luke. Yoda also mentions how he has a secret sister. He then fades away and Luke walks outside distraught when Obi Wan’s force ghost suddenly materializes in front of him. They also have a talk similar to the real film, though Kenobi doesn’t use the “certain point of view” cop out. He admits his and Yodas deception and the fact that they would have told Luke when he was ready, but unfortunately Luke left and faced Vader before that point. Obi Wan then says that Vader most likely cannot be redeemed but Luke can try if he feels it’s right. He also doesn’t know of any sister.

After the talk, Luke gets a message from Leia. They have found the whereabouts of Han and something else that could be the key to defeating the Empire. We then cut to the planet of Sicemon which is a Mediterranean like world with beautiful stone towns filled with the richest and most powerful crime lords of the galaxy. Jabba’s compound is the largest on the planet and is stunningly beautiful. Monaco or Dubai levels of decadence. Luke’s X-Wing covertly lands in the hills above the palace and he meets Leia and several other Rebel Commandos. We learn that Lando and Chewbacca infiltrated Jabba’s inner circle months ago back on Tatooine before Jabba moved his operation here. Lando not only discovered Han but also an Imperial shuttle and codes that grant it access to Had Abaddon. This is obviously very important as it means that if the rebels capture it then they can land a strike team to infiltrate the capitol. There is a subtle sadness to Luke and Leias interactions, though Leia doesn’t notice. Luke is aware that she loves Han and has accepted that fact but he still clearly has some feelings that he keeps to himself.

Luke, Leia and the rest of the commandos infiltrate the palace using the help of Lando and Chewie as they unlock the back entrance. Inside the palace, it looks similar to the real ROTJ (Jabba looks similar as well) but unlike the real movie, our heroes blast their way through the guards and up to Bib Fortuna and Jabba. They force Jabba to give them the code and then knock him out. Han is extracted from the carbonite but it’s clear he needs medical attention. The heroes rush out of the palace and reach the Shuttle which has been parked out in front as a status symbol. Unfortunately, they are accosted by Boba Fett who was secretly watching from a warehouse across the street. Luke manages to distract and fight Boba in a running battle up the side of one of the magnificent stone structures. His lightsaber bounces off Bobas armor and so Luke beats him by using the force to redirect Bobas missile (which he just fired at Luke) back around to him, blowing Boba Fett to smithereens.

Our heroes then blast off, Luke in his X-Wing and the rest in the Imperial shuttle. And go back to the Rebel fleet which is still floating around in space like we saw them last in ESB. The Millenium Falcon is also there with it having been picked up by other Rebels on the request of Lando while he traveled to Sicemon with Jabba. R2 and 3PO reunite again and start bickering as usual while Han is put in Bacta. When he awakes, Han punches Lando in the face and tries to choke him to death before being pulled off by everyone. The fact that Lando helped everyone else escape Cloud City is explained to Han by Chewie and Leia. He reluctantly agrees to work with Lando, but it’s clear he still distrusts him. After catching up, Han and Leia go somewhere private to talk about their relationship and what happened while Luke goes to his assigned room to get some sleep.

Han and Leia finally both confess their feelings to the other and Leia opens up about how awful it’s been trying to help run the Rebellion in the last few months. Han reassures her in his Hannish way about how they’ll get through this. I’m not good at writing romance but suffice to say the two kiss and fall on to the bed before we cut. We then see Lukes nightmare of burning planets, mountains of corpses, his friends in agony, and the voice of Vader and the Emperor both entreating him to kill the other and rule the galaxy. Luke wakes up and walks through the hall of the ship to a window and by the light of the stars he slumps down and cries.

We cut back to Sicemon where Mara Jade and a detachment of Stormtroopers have landed, searching for Luke’s whereabouts. She tortures an injured Jabba who finally reveals that he gave the rebels a code to sneak onto Had Abbadon. Mara then decapitates Jabba and contacts the Emperor. He simply laughs and says everything is proceeding as he has foreseen. Palpatine then orders Mara back to Had Abbadon, saying that Luke will come to them.

We then transition to the Executor Orbiting the city planet itself; we see Vader in his meditation chamber. He is trying to call out to Luke but instead he gets a surprise when he sees Obi Wan’s force ghost instead. He tells Vader that time is short and that soon he will be forced to choose. Obi Wan tells Vader that while he himself has doubts, Luke believes he can turn Vader back to the light and he is his only chance to break free. Vader angrily says that he is strong in his belief in the Dark Side and that Obi Wan and Luke are fools. It’s Luke that will succumb to the Dark side, not Vader to the Light. Obi Wan says that only the force knows the answer. He is just the messenger and it is up to the living to decide which path to take. He fades away. A single tear winds its way down Vader’s mangled face.

Vader then storms out onto the bridge presumably to order for the coup to commence. However he is in for a rude awakening. The Emperor is there, surrounded by his guard, Mara Jade and several of the Admirals Vader was speaking with in the beginning (including Thrawn in the back). The whole thing was a trap. The Emperor says that Vader has strayed from his leash for far too long. Without moving an inch, Palpatine uses the force to push Vader down into a kneeling position. He then says that Vader will know the true meaning of pain in the years to come, back under his full control. He raises his hands but we cut away to the outside of the Executor before we see what Palpatine did. We do however hear Vader’s screams of pain as we cut.

The scene transitions to the meeting room we know from the real ROTJ where the Rebels led by Mon Mothma outline their plan of landing a party of soldiers on Had Abbadon with the Imperial Shuttle. These rebels will then attack and destroy the shield generator protecting the planet’s newly installed giant laser cannons, similar to the death star canons. allowing the Rebel fleet to take the capitol. Our characters listen to the plan intently but Luke seems very tired and distracted. Leia asks what’s wrong, but Luke just pushes her away, saying he’s fine. Han doesn’t want to lead the ground team because he doesn’t trust Lando with the Falcon but ultimately relents while wishing Lando good luck sort of sarcastically but with a hint of sincerity buried underneath it.

The scene on the shuttle is similar enough with Luke sensing Vader and saying he shouldn’t have come with everyone. Just like in the real film, they get past safely and land. In this version however, they land in a rusting industrial district of Had Abbadon where the shield generator is located, instead of the forests of Endor. Our heroes are horrified to learn that this part of the planet is populated by slave laborers from all sorts of alien species, including many Wookie’s to the anger of Chewie. Our heroes get in touch with some escaped slaves, including a Wookie who was an old friend of Chewie’s back on Kashyyyk before the Empire’s slave raids. They all stay the night in a safehouse on the lower levels of the city while they all come up with the idea to stage a prison break and use that as an excuse to attack the shield generator.

Chewie and C3PO give their speeches to the escaped slaves that emboldens them to fight while Luke walks to the door and is confronted by Han and Leia about what’s going on with him and where he is going. Luke finally tells them the truth about Vader being his father and the fact he needs to face him. He also comes to terms with the fact that Leia loves Han not him by asking them to take care of each other and that he wishes for them to be happy. Luke leaves his shocked friends and gives himself over to the Empire. He meets Mara who is very smug about “capturing” him and Luke is transported to a cell in the Emperor’s palace to await his meeting with the Emperor.

The next day the plan is put into action. The rebels storm the prison with the freed slaves and spark a general uprising all across the planet. They then capture the shield generator with the help of stolen speeder bikes. But it seems a bit easy…too easy. The rebel techs work on the shields and they start having problems taking them down. Meanwhile Luke meets Vader who is to bring him to the Emperor’s chambers. Vader is very dejected and fatalistic, just as he is in the actual movie but now we know why he changed his tune. His attempt to overthrow the Emperor failed. Vader is resigned to the fact that he will be the Emperor’s slave, just as Luke shall soon be. Luke and Palpatine meet face to face at last and it’s also almost exactly the same as the film we got. It is now when the Emperor reveals the shields are fully operational as the Rebel fleet comes out of hyperspace and is blasted by the two large defensive laser cannons. As Admiral Ackbar says “It’s a trap!!!”. Luke then tries to kill the Emperor only to get blocked by Vader’s saber beginning the duel that’s basically the same as the real film. Meanwhile at the same time, the rest of our heroes on the ground team get attacked by the elite Emperor’s guard led by Mara.

Its slaughter. The armor the guard wears is a lot harder to penetrate than regular Stormtrooper armor. They can still go down, but not in one or two hits like normal. Meanwhile in space above, the Rebel fleet is getting destroyed, with Lando and the Falcon narrowly avoiding destruction several times with the help of Wedge. Han gets wounded by a blaster bolt and it is serious. He decides to blow up the generator as it seems like there is no way to shut it down otherwise. He instructs Leia, Chewie and the rest to get out of the blast radius. Han and Leia say their goodbyes repeating the “I love you, I know” now reversed. There is then a speeder bike chase throughout the rusting city with Mara Jade leading the Imperial forces chasing the heroes. Meanwhile Luke is at that point in the duel where he is hiding from Vader. Han then blows up the generator, dying in the process.

The explosion is felt even in the lava strewn bowls of Palpatine’s lair. Luke can tell Han died and Vader uses his grief to make Luke turn. The fight then once again progresses as normal as Luke cuts off Vader’s hands before stopping. Having the same revelation as the real movie. He throws away his saber and declares he shall never turn. Palpatine then electrocutes him. At the same time, Leia and Chewie are fighting Mara and the remainder of the Imperial guard on a speeder bike chase. The bike crashes and the foes face off. Leia, having grabbed a vibroblade from a dead guard earlier fights toe to toe with Mara’s lightsaber (though it’s clear Leia is unskilled and her Vibroblade is taking a beating from the lightsaber) while Chewie fights the guards single handedly, fueled by the rage and grief he feels for the dead Han.

Up in space, the battle is still tense, but now the Rebels have an actual shot to win because the shield is gone. The Executor gets taken out, similar to the real ROTJ. Wedge and Lando realize this is their chance and both dive towards the cannons. Meanwhile Luke is still being tortured by the Emperor and screams out to Vader to save him, just like in the canon ROTJ. Vader is silent but the voice of Obi Wan talking about last chances can be faintly heard. Anakin Skywalker silently picks up Palpatine and throws him screaming down into the Lava below the catwalks despite the damage and pain of the force lightning. At the same time, Lando and Wedge destroy the two canons and the remains of the Imperial fleet begin to limp away including a Star Destroyer with Thrawn. Chewie finally dispatches the rest of the Imperial guard and saves Leia (who’s blade finally gave out) by pushing Mara Jade off of the building/warehouse/factory they were fighting atop (we don’t see her land hint hint).

Luke takes Vader up the elevator to the entrance of the Imperial Palace and takes off Vader’s helmet. Anakin can look at the sky and feel the wind on his face one final time. The conversation is similar to canon, except when Luke asks about if he has a sister and Vader says “Sister…your sister…” and dies (fading away like Obi Wan and Yoda). Luke hugs the empty armor with tears in his eyes. He then looks up at the triumphant rebel ships and the celebrating civilians and wipes the tears away, smiling.

We then cut to a few months later. Had Abbadon is getting repaired from the battle, the Republic has begun to be restored, despite the numerous territories still held under Imperial rule but more worlds are revolting against the imperials every day. Leia is about to be crowned as queen of the surviving citizens of Alderaan. Before that however, Leia visits the vast graveyard for everyone who died during the battle, including Han. Luke is there already and the two of them talk. Leia is also showing signs of pregnancy and Luke gets confirmation that the child is Hans. He then tells Leia that he has a sister somewhere and he intends to find her and train her in the ways of the force. If he can’t find her, then he plans to take on apprentices and rebuild the Jedi order and travel the galaxy righting wrongs any way he can. It’s his duty as the last of the Jedi. However, Luke promises that Leia can contact him if there is ever an emergency and hands her a two way hologram communication device.

3PO, R2, Chewie and Lando then arrive and each mourn for Han. It is revealed that Chewie is to become Leia’s security chief while 3PO is the official royal translator. Lando has become an admiral in the New Republic and will soon be away on campaigns to get rid of imperial warlords. R2 meanwhile is going with Luke much to 3POs dismay. They all hug or something and say their goodbyes. We then see the coronation which is almost an inverse to the celebration at the end of ANH. Luke sees Obi Wan, Yoda and Anakin’s force ghosts in the back of the ceremony. WE then cut to Luke flying his X-Wing with R2 away from Had Abbadon. R2 asks where they are going and Luke says with a small smile “wherever we are needed”. He jumps to hyperspace and the credits roll.

My Godfather-Esque Star Wars Saga
Time

I wrote this all in one sitting and it’s a bit out there. I’m now not sure if my ideas are any good tbh but I’m going to show you all anyways
Episode 1 A New Hope: Only the numbering has changed

Episode 2 The Empire Strikes Back: Only the numbering has changed

Episode 3 Ghosts of the Past:

Luke after swimming in “The River of Souls” sees visions of the past (like Bran from GOT). Throughout the movie he has these visions (3 in total) and after each vision he then talks to Spirit Obi Wan and Yoda about it (think Arabian Nights or Name of the Wind). I’m not sure what the conversations are like but it starts out with Luke being angry at them for lying and then slowly morphs into Zen like acceptance.

Vision 1: Luke sees his father Anakin Skywalker and his sister Beru Skywalker as Slaves on Nal Hutta where Owen shows up to buy them their freedom as he was an orphan slave that was taken in by Anakin’s mother before being sold 5 years ago. He was freed on his master’s deathbed and now works on a spice freighter. However, mercenaries of _____ the Hutt visit Anakin and Beru’s master because they want Beru for their master’s harem. After a tense standoff where Owen pulls out a gun to threaten them they bribe the Mercenaries to not take Beru. That only leaves enough money to free one of them and Owen and Anakin decide Beru should be the one freed. Just before they leave Owen gives Anakin a small easily hidden blaster.

Anakin after being taken back to his master’s shop is brutally beaten within an inch of his life. Anakin then climbs on the roof of the shop and watches the sunset with tears running down his face as the twin suns theme plays. Then we see Anakin 6 months later working on the skyhopper of his master’s favorite champion in the Skyhopper races. The champion and Anakins master verbally abuse Anakin before thugs burst into the room and shoot the champion leaving Anakin’s master with no choice but to have Anakin race instead.

On the day of the race the slave chip is removed just for the race and Anakin gets an idea. He shoots his master in the face with Owens small blaster and then jumps on the Skyhopper while being chased by guards around Nal Hutta. Eventually Anakin is shot down and cornered and is about to be executed before a Imperial (The Empire has been around for 1000 years after the fall of the Jedi due to civil war and the first Clone War and it is a stagnating feudal entity but not under the control of the dark side yet ) Navy Recruiter stops it and recruits him due to his flying abilities

Vision 2: This is in the final battle of the 6th Clone War with The Empire fighting against the Clone Masters led by the brutal and insane General Grievous who is like his 2003 Clone Wars version but instead he wields Electro Staffs. It is a brutal Verdun style quagmire. We see Owen and Anakin fighting in the air before they both get shot down. We also learn through conversation that Owen and Beru got married and are expecting a child. Because of Anakin’s quick thinking and charisma he and Owen lead a squadron of men who were about to rout because they have lost their commander into the Clonemaster stronghold which is built on top of an Old Republic ruin. They face General Grievous in his last stand. The battle is a curbstomp with everyone except Anakin and Owen being killed. The battle has also completely destroyed the facility leaving the ruins exposed including a figure trapped in ancient carbonite. As Anakin shields the injured Owen from Greviouses attacks a Red lightsaber cuts through Grievous killing him. As he collapses to the ground we see a red and black figure wielding a lightsaber. Anakin asks who he is and the figure simply states that he is called Maul before disappearing. Anakin and Owen are left in the facility/ruins with the carbonite. Something about it draws Anakin’s attention and despite Owens protests he walks up and frees a bearded man from it. The man falls bonelessly to the floor and it seems like he is dead but then he takes a shuddering breath. Anakin in awe runs over and tries to lift him up but fails. He frantically asks the bearded stranger who he is and what happened but the man can only hoarsely whisper “Satine? Where is Satine. Why can’t I see?” Owen, still mistrustful, says that he has advanced hibernation sickness and will probably die soon.

Anakin says they have to get him to the field hospital and Owen helps carry him across the muddy battlefield to the trenches. In the field hospital Captain Tarkin and a squad of Inquisitors (more like the Spanish inquisition) storm in and take the man away saying he is dangerous and must be interrogated. Anakin tries to intervene and gets punched in the face and can only watch in anger as they take the man away to their “private facilities”

Vision 3:We cut to later on a star destroyer on route to Had Abaddon and Owen Beru (who works on the ship as a technician to be close to her husband) and Anakin talking about the strange events that transpired. Anakin wants to find out more about the bearded man while Owen just wants to forget about it. Owen calls it a night but Anakin and Beru keep talking. She gives him an access card to get down to the level the strange man is housed in with a wink. Anakin thanks her profusely and sneaks down.

The man is in the detention center and he looks better than earlier though still weak (he was treated for his hibernation sickness but only because the Empire wants to interrogate him later). He and Anakin talk and he says his name is Obi Wan and that he is a Knight of the Republic. He then asks what the year is because nobody would give him a straight answer. Anakin tells him and Obi Wan is in shock. He has been frozen for 1000 years. Obi Wan mentions the force and Anakin is confused because he has barely heard of it. Obi Wan then gives him a basic rundown and tells Anakin that he is strong in it,something Anakin scoffs at. Obi Wan then asks if Anakin could help him escape and Anakin agrees. They begin to formulate a plan for several days and Anakin springs it into action. Owen and Beru get caught up in the firefight and Beru is shot in her pregnant stomach. The four of them escape in an imperial shuttle and jump to hyperspace though they don’t know where they went exactly because they punched in the first numbers that came up because of the hurry they were in. They land on Tatooine and get Beru patched up though the child is dead and she can’t have any more.

Owen is furious about this and punches Obi Wan before Anakin intervenes. He says they need to sell the shuttle and then figure out what to do next. Owen, seeing how far away from the fighting Tatooine is, says they should stay here and become moisture farmers. Anakin says they shouldn’t leave everything behind and Obi Wan agrees. Owen reluctantly lets Anakin go. They split the money half for Owen and Beru to start a new life and half for Anakin and Obi Wan so they can get offworld. Anakin suggests they go to Alderaan which is near mythical in The Empire as the last remnant of The Old Republic and it’s values. It is a neutral zone between the Empire and The Chiss Hegemony so the Empire cannot interfere.

Anakin and Obi Wan go looking for a smuggler to get them in and find a roguish 30 year old man by the name of Darth Vader. They get to Alderaan and the King and Prince are overjoyed to have a real Jedi amongst them. They are the last outpost of Force believers. They are beginning to find allies to stage a revolt against the Empire to restore The Old Republic.

They stage a dinner for them even if Vader is hesitant because Obi Wan said the force was strong with him too even though he is a skeptic. During the celebrations Obi Wan is presented with an ancient lightsaber while we meet Padme Amidala and Yina Jade who are both handmaidens to the queen of Aldeeran.

They strike up a friendship with Anakin and Vader. However the ceremony is interrupted by an attack by the light saber wielder from earlier,Maul leading a squadron of mysterious battle droids. He attacks Obi Wan and they fight throughout the palace halls all the while Anakin,Darth,Padme and Yina fight the droids along with the guards and during the fight the 4 showcase they have force abilities. It is revealed Maul was on the opposite side in the Jedi Civil War 1000 years previous and that he killed Obi Wan’s brother Ben making them mortal enemies. Obi Wan in shock asks how he survives and Maul answers “The Dark Side of the force is a pathway to much you wouldn’t understand feeble Jedi”. However in the end Maul is driven off when more soldiers arrive. Obi Wan vows to help Alderaan’s rebellion and decides to take Anakin,Padme,Darth and Yina under his wing to restart the Jedi Order.

Interspersed though not as liberally is scenes of Leia and the Rebellion.

They find a new base on a grass planet and Leia and Lando want to go look for Han but are rebuffed. Leia,Lando,Chewbacca and R2 sneak into Had Abbadon for intel on the Empire’s next plans but also secretly want information on Han.

The info they find however is much worse. Vader’s psychic connection with Luke means the Empire knows where he is and is planning a strike team to capture him led by the Emperor’s hand Mara Jade.

They race back to Kashyyyk and inform the Rebels and manage to convince them to intercept the strike team.

Meanwhile Luke is getting ready for another vision quest when elite Stormtroopers land and capture him all while a huge space battle rages above. Mara Jade herself personally confronts Yoda who doesn’t resist and is calm the whole time saying that it’s not too late to be free of the emperor and that joining the dark side wasn’t her choice she was forced into it. This shakes Mara to the core and she strikes Yoda down. The rebels get their ass handed to them and have to retreat with their tails between their legs. Back on grass planet Leia is stripped of her rank due to the fiasco and she leaves with Lando Chewie and the droids to search for Han. We then cut to an imperial holding cell on a Star Destroyer where Luke sits quietly meditating while Mara watches through the force field perplexed and angry.

Episode 4 Redemption:

We begin with Leia and Lando on Tatooine looking at Jabba’s Palace where they have tracked Han to. They get a plan to get inside posing as bounty hunters bringing in Chewbacca. The palace is pretty similar to the one in RTOJ though NO SONG. Once everyone is asleep Lando and Leia try to get Han out of the carbonite. They get him out but are,of course, captured with Lando pitted against the Rancor. The Rancor scene is the exact same as in ROTJ.

We cut to The Emperor’s palace with Luke being tortured by the Emperor and Mara while Vader watches uncomfortably but he refuses to break yet. After yet another failed attempt they leave him in his cell. Luke is pale and gaunt from a year of torture and imprisonment.

We see The Emperor with Mara and Vader walking in a part of the imperial palace. Mara is telling the Emperor that Luke will never break and how they should just kill him but the emperor is not convinced by her argument. Vader just walks along silent deep in thought. He goes into his room which is like the chamber in ESB and we see him fully out of his armour and be taken care of by medical droids. The ghost of Obi Wan appears and tells Vader that he is dying and will eventually have to choose. Vader tells him to get out of his sight and that his devotion to the dark side has never been stronger but it is half hearted. It is obvious that Obi Wan’s spirit has been visiting him for a while and that this is an old argument.

We then cut back to Tatooine where Chewie,Lando and Han are going to be fed to the Sarlacc pit. Han and Lando still don’t trust each other and Han tells him that if he weren’t restrained he would choke Lando to death right here and now. They escape similar to how they did in the movie though there is no light saber action. During the fight Boba Fett aims a shot at Han but hits Lando instead. Fett escapes and on the speeder ride back to the falcon Lando dies, forgiven by Han in an emotional scene.

We cut back to an imprisoned and nearly blind Luke diving back into the past to learn (Yoda’s spirit has been teaching him the way to do it without the river)more but without the River of Souls it strains the eyes and he is nearly blind though the force means he can still sense things. He sees Vader,Anakin,Padme and Yina training on Dagobah with Yoda and Obi Wan. We learn how Obi Wan found Yoda because Yoda called out through the force when he felt Obi Wan was living again. There is a brotherly rivalry between Vader and Anakin though it seems that Vader takes it more seriously. We also see how Anakin and Padme are together and Vaders failed flirting attempts with Yina who looks admiringly at Obi Wan furthering Vader’s jealousy and rage but the rest laugh him off and don’t take it as seriously as they should, only Yoda is concerned.

Luke snaps awake as Mara Jade comes into his cell and demands to know what secrets he knows from Yoda and Obi Wan and why he continues to resist the will of the all powerful emperor. Luke can sense her hesitation and says he knows what yoda told her and that it is never too late and how she is in a prison just as he is. She storms off loudly proclaiming that she will never turn but there is a flicker of hesitation Luke sees.

We then get back to Leia,Han and the gang and they are on the Falcon trying to figure out what to do next. They don’t know where the new rebellion base is and they are wanted in Imperial space. Han suggests they could go to the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyyk because he is friendly with them. They set their course.

We go back to Luke still in the past dreamworld with Yoda’s spirit guiding him. He asks Yoda what happened to the Jedi and what happened to the Republic. Yoda then shows Luke his own memories of that time.

We see a montage of the Jedi of the Old Republic battling droids (with cloned brain matter) during the first Clone War and of the majestic splendour of The Republic capitol of Coruscant. We then see it fall into decay as system after system falls to the droids and the republic gets more and more corrupt.A younger Yoda is seen arguing with a council and then walking away from the temple in disgust. We then see an office where some Jedi including Obi Wan and someone who looks similar are guarding the Chancellor when other Jedi led by Maul enter the room with their sabers lit. They have a heated argument and then the Jedi that looks similar to Obi Wan attacks Maul while Obi Wan screams “Ben NOOO!”but Ben is quickly cut down. The room devolves into a chaotic free for all as the different Jedi Clash with each other. We then see montages of the senate being killed by Jedi,Clone troopers pushing back droids before they revolt and make a state of their own while all over the galaxy monasteries burn. Finally we see Maul being deposed and Jedi of all sides being slaughtered until only a handful are left at a monastery, the same ruins the clonemaster base was built upon centuries later. We see the last few Jedi freezing themselves in carbonite and walling themselves off. We then see the wear and tear of time destroying the carbonite blocks one by one until Obi Wan’s is left. Luke wakes up with tears in his eyes and asks why they should bother to bring the Jedi back if they caused so much suffering and then Yoda sends him images of Jedi doing good, feeding the poor, treating the sick, protecting against monsters etc. Luke’s destiny is to bring back the Jedi as they could be, not as they were. Yoda tells him that it is Mara’s destiny as well. Luke then asks about his father and how could his father be Anakin and Vader at the same time? Yoda tells him it will be revealed to both him and Mara, not just him. Their destinies are intertwined.

Han and Leia go to Kashyyyk and are horrified to see that the empire has been building a huge dyson sphere around it’s sun for a new superweapon (or so everyone thinks). They quickly land and find the wookies who are beaten down and enslaved.

We then see inside the sphere which is full of Aboleth Cultists that scare everyone else on the station.

Luke is brought outside of the palace to a star destroyer along with Mara and Vader. Vader turns to Luke and says he should submit for his own good but Luke calmly refuses and says he senses good in him still and Vader slumps visibly disappointed and shamed while Mara looks back with a thoughtful expression.

Back on Kashyyyk Leia radios the Rebels and even though they dislike her due to the debacle on Dagobah they still think it is an important thing to strike at and pledge support.

Meanwhile on the ship Mara comes to see Luke and confesses grudgingly she has doubts about the emperor and his plans. Luke smiles and offers to teach her the light side of the force. She accepts and they share a vision.

In this vision they see the start of the rebellion against the empire and the battles Anakin,Vader,Padme and Yina as they fight battles, fall in love and search for an artifact called the kyber crystals. Vader in particular is very focused on the crystals as they will enhance his power. We also see Obi Wan’s last fight with Maul and how Maul warns Obi Wan about the crystals and the outer regions saying that there are worse things than dark jedi.We then see Anakin and Padme get married and more of Yina and Vader’s tumultuous love/hate relationship. We also see Vader become friends with a lowly Bureaucrat/Archeologist named Sheev Palpatine who dislikes the present state of the empire but also the rebellion. We learn that Vader is the runaway son of Emperor Constans, the current emperor.

Obi Wan,Palpatine and the other 4 go to the undiscovered regions and find a desolate planet full of magnificent temples where a malevolent force spirit dwells like a mix between Aboleth and Plageus. In the biggest temple is a bunch of cultists and a gigantic corpse sitting on a throne. They are captured and Palpatine is revealed as a cultist himself. The corpse speaks promising power and feeding off their greed and jealousy. Palpatine is chosen as his avatar and he starts to absorb the evil spirit’s essence.Vader is offered the chance of power and wealth finally snaps and Anakin soon follows with them fighting a heated duel to decide who would be aboleth’s right hand while Padme tries to intervene and gets horrifically wounded.

During the distractions Obi Wan destroys the crystal scarring Palpatine as the ritual fails. Obi Wan and a grievously wounded Padme manage to escape. Anakin and Vader kill each other but Palpatine who managed to absorb some of Aboleth/plagiuses essence before Obi Wan disrupted the ritual takes both their souls and melds them and puts them in Vader’s body as Anakin’s has disintegrated in molten magma. Padme dies and the boy is given to Owen and Beru while Vader/Anakin, a captive(pregnant with Vaders child just before they went to the unknown regions) Yina Jade and Palpatine return to the galaxy with an army of cultists and overthrow Emperor Constans in a coup. The Empire is then purged and reformed into a technologically advanced powerhouse while the rebellion is almost completely crushed and Alderaan swears fealty through gritted teeth to avoid destruction. Obi Wan tries to rescue Yina and her young child Mara but Yina dies and Obi Wan is nearly killed.

After seeing this vision both Luke and Mara are stunned but Mara rejects it as some sort of trick and storms off in rage and tears.

They get to the “suncrusher” and at the same time the Rebels attack in a spectacular space battle. Leia leads the Wookies to destroy the shield Generator while Han takes the falcon to fight in space.

Meanwhile on the Suncrusher things go similar to ROTJ until it is revealed that the Sun Crusher is not a superweapon at all. It is a way to transfer souls into different bodies and it takes energy to do ergo sun. Palpatine plans to have Luke and Mara Jade fight and kill the other. Then the victor is the strongest and Palpatine will leave his crippled body and possess theirs. Luke and Mara fight but Luke convinces Mara to stop fighting him and they both throw their weapons on the ground. Palpatine tortures both of them but Vader kills Palpatine and dies. Han dies blowing up the Sun Crusher but Mara and Luke escape.

The Empire has been given a grievous blow but still is out there. Leia becomes part of the rebellion again and is with Hans child. Luke and Mara go off into the Sunset to find other force sensitives

Star Wars Episode 5 Labyrinth of Evil (kinda superfluous) and

Star Wars Episode 6 Triumph of the Jedi:

Are sort of like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/fixingmovies/comments/i27pr4/what_if_the_sequel_trilogy_took_place_immediately/

Only Mara Jade takes the place of Leia and Wedge takes the place of Lando and it is Thrawn who mutinies against the Sith and makes peace with the rebellion splitting the Galaxy in 2 different governments. Empress Ren is a mad clone Vader made of Padme and Jorrus is Obi Wan’s son from 1000 years ago because he was hidden in a force nexus or something. The Vong are here too I think IDK

The "Vader Edition" Star Wars Saga - Episodes 1-6 Edits (1/6 available) (WIP) (Revival)
Time

I really like a lot of your ideas but I have some ideas that I think would make them even better. I think you maybe could somehow imply that Owen knew Anakin more than once considering how Owen is thrown into AOTC as an afterthought even though in ANH it is implied that he knew Anakin and Obi Wan a lot more. I’m not sure how to fix that but there must be some way.

Another interesting idea is flashing back to important scenes in TPM in AOTC like Darthrush did with his edit. Then you could have AOTC the first movie and then make a fanedit of TCW tv show as the middle movie.

With ANH I would suggest removing a lot of Motti’s comments about the jedi because he would have been around when the Jedi were in their prime. Also maybe have Luke say “You fought in The Clone WAR” instead of WarS since there was only one or you could change it to “The DROID War” because the droids were on the defeated side and wars are usually named after the side that was defeated.

You could also remove Leia being Lukes sister entirely like the radical re edit of ROTJ. It would not be hard to cut from Padme saying “Oh Luke” in ROTS to her dying skipping Leia. You could also get rid of the line “from a certain point of view” (god I hate that line). You could include the Boba subplot from the ROTJ radical re edit as well instead of him going out like a little bitch.

Good work so far tho

I’ve spent the last couple months pondering this “Ultimate Star Wars Saga” of mine, trying to figure out how I’d go about it. Do I want it to be a trilogy of trilogies, a series with an indeterminate number of seasons, or a single film? How faithful do I want to remain to Lucas’ PT, or Legends, or my own previous rewrites? How many elements do I want to take from earlier SW film drafts? Do I want it to be a conservative rewrite, an extensive rewrite, or a little of both? Do I even really want to rewrite the entire saga? Maybe I really just want to pare it down to the PT, or the OT.

After considerable thought, I’ve reached some final conclusions. The Ultimate Star Wars Saga would consist of twelve episodes, forming four trilogies spanning four generations of the Skywalker family. The first trilogy, the “Pre-Clone Wars Trilogy”, would be a rewrite of my previous PT rewrite, tailored to make Obi-Wan & Anakin peers, Anakin & Vader completely separate characters, etc. The second trilogy would be a PT rewrite proper, aligning more closely with Lucas’ films. The third trilogy would be an OT rewrite. The fourth trilogy would be the ST rewrite, incorporating elements from Disney’s films, the Dark Empire trilogy, Dark Forces II, and possibly also the Thrawn trilogy.

Fickle sumbitch that I am, I don’t think I’ll be going this route after all, as interesting a route it may be.

I keep reflecting on my incompleted PT rewrite. It was something of a hot mess, but I like the story I was crafting; I’d rather streamline/expand it into a TCW-esque series than work with Lucas’ table scraps.

Some concepts I have in mind for this prequel series:

  • Darth Vader & Anakin Skywalker are separate characters. Darth is the biological son of Shmi Warka & Chlorian Vader, adopted son/apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi & Siri Tachi. Anakin is a non-Force-sensitive farmer married to Amidala Skywalker; their daughter is Nashira Skywalker, Darth’s lover.
  • Tatooine was a prosperous frontier world until the Clone Wars.
  • The Clone Wars were instigated by Mandalorian clone warriors, descendants of Mandalorians who fled to the Rishi Maze during the Mandalorian Wars and conquered the native Kaminoans.
  • Yoda & Qui-Gon Jinn are among the “Lost Twenty”, heterodox Jedi who left the order due to disillusionment with the Order. Yoda went into self-imposed exile on Dagobah while Qui-Gon established the Potentium.
  • Asajj Ventress is Qui-Gon’s foremost apprentice and second-in-command.
  • Jedi wield blue lightsabers, Potentiates violet lightsabers. Only Darth has a unique lightsaber colour (yellow).
  • Darth loses his right arm/legs in his penultimate duel with Obi-Wan, but otherwise remains unharmed. Further injuries/bionic enhancements will accumulate over the course of the Jedi Purge.
  • Adopting the alias “Owen Lars”, Obi-Wan takes baby Luke into hiding with him on Tatooine, where he eventually meets/marries Beru Whitesun.

Are you still rewriting the OT after?
So Lukes father won’t be Anakin in this version?

So your PT trilogy that sticks to what Lucas wanted, does it feature Vader as the main young protagonist? I assume so if Anakin is Obi Wan’s peer.

Yep. Anakin becomes the Dooku figure (who isn’t Palpatine’s apprentice).

Also what will you change about the OT besides the obvious (Leia being Lukes sister, the dumb Ewoks and Han living even though him dying would make more thematic sense etc). I remember you toying with the idea of getting rid of Owen and Beru and having Obi Wan raise Luke under the alias of Ben Lars which I thought made a lot of sense.

Right about Owen/Beru. Other major differences would be a single Death Star, ANH & TESB taking place nearly back-to-back, and Luke joining Vader at the end of TESB. I’m no longer sure if Han would die in my story. Neither Vader nor Luke get a happy ending in my version of ROTJ; adding Han’s death to the mix would push it too far into grimdark territory.

Just remember that everyone is rooting for you. I know its hard to finish a rewrite but everyone here is looking forward to it so I hope that keeps you going. Best of luck!!!
PS: Will your sequels include The Vong? They are always sadly forgotten in sequel rewrites

How I would do my Fan Edits (more realistic edition)
First of all skip TPM it adds almost nothing to the story. Start with AOTC and have a few TPM flashbacks like Darth Zounds edit. The base of this AOTC edit would be AOTC Sanded Down and Alaskan Sandmans Prequels Revisited. One ambitious thing I would add is when there is the flasback of the TPM scene where Anakin leaves home change the background to the Lars homestead and in the far back Rotoscope in Own and Clieg silently watching not saying anything and right beside Qui Gon Rotoscope Obi Wan standing beside him. The rest of the scene plays out the same. Ambitious yes but not impossible if Sheepish and Alaskan Sandman can do it to Dooku in their edits so could I. Then when Anakin goes back for his mother tweak the dialouge a little and your golden.
Then for an Ep 2 I would just edit TCW (2003) into a movie
For ROTS I would then once again use Alaskan Sandman but also The New Cannon Cut and Hal9000s Kashykk scenes and also I would have Padme die and only give birth to Luke,it would be easy to cut out the twins entirely. Also dub General Grievous.
Then for a New Hope I would use Adywan and Fixitinposts new Obi Wan/Vader duel. I would also change some dialogue between Obi Wan and Luke to fix continuity errors as well as make Luke say “You fought in the Droid Wars” instead of Clones because Wars are usually named by the victorious power and the enemy they fought
Empire Strikes back would be Adywans and the only change I would make is no “There is another line” because there is no sister twist in my edits because I hate it so much
For ROTJ I would use Adywan as well as Ziggy and Darth Rush and cut out everything about Leia being Lukes sister. I would also make The Second Death star a dyson sphere around Endor’s Sun through some extra special effects and tweaked dialouge such as it not being named the death star 2. That would be it pretty much

I am in full works still, Sorry for the long delays!

I will not scrap my original film structure! It works surprisingly well, and having tried to go back to its original TPM form just felt… well, boring to be honest. The original film is just poorly paced and the main character is not at all obvious anymore (Qui-Gon).

Wait will you do the other PT movies or just this one?

I have no idea if I will tackle them, though I do have ideas for EP II. Focusing more on the loss of Qui-Gon is one of them. The other is that the Kaminoians (rly don’t remember their names) do speak a foreign alien language as to make them more menacing as well as the plot more engaging. This way I can also better connect Dooku into the story. Coruscant would look less CGI and have less intense imagery.

Perhaps it would be an option for you to work together with The AlaskanSandman:?

Is that project still going? Hasn’t been updated in 2 months or so. Also Anjohan if you ever do AOTC how will you handle Owen? Also what ep 2 and 3 edits by others jell well with your TPM edit?

Help Wanted: for an OT Fan Edit... Help!
Time

I have the idea that the Battle Droids will be mentioned to have Cloned human brain matter integrated into their heads for extra intelligence or something like that if I want to get rid of Republic Clones entirely somehow.

I could edit the OT to say Droid instead of Clone Wars if I can’t find a work around for the Clones in the PT,a lot less work

I would also get rid of Leia being Lukes sister because of the plot holes that reveal gave us. It would be easy to cut out. Obi Wan could say “That boy is our last hope” and Yoda could say "Trust in the will of the force we must) instead of “There is another”. As for Luke going apeshit on Vader I could edit it to have Han die somehow in the battle and Luke feeling it in the force before Dubbing Vader to taunt Luke about his friends death or just cut to Han and Leia in danger with Vader taunting about that.

Something I also need help with is how do I make it seem like Owen and Anakin have met before or even Obi Wan to fix some plot holes. Maybe somehow you could make Own Obi Wans brother which was the original idea in the ROTJ novelization and cut out all the scenes with them in AOTC and have Anakin cut from Watto to The Sand people(have Padmes ship parked in the empty desert) and cut some lines from Ep4 about "he wanted your father to stay here and not get involved, hell maybe make Anakin not grow up on Tatooine in TPM and have it be another desert planet/change digitally the terrain a bit)

Also how do you make the Ewoks scarier? Digital alterations/voice alterations?

Sounds like an interesting idea. Certainly bold, if you ever plan to go through with it. If that is the case, I would suggest to show bits, like the Kenobi brothers adventures and the Jedi Civil War, in flashbacks. That way it would cut down at least a little bit of the workload by combining certain story elements. Another way I think could help (and this is only if you really want to differ in style from the actual movies) is to have Lara and intertwine her story with Luke’s, e.g. you could have your OT be about the twins on parallel journeys that eventually lead up to the two meeting or you could have Lara start out as a minor character in the beginning before she joins the main cast. Of course, that could get rid of the the whole time-dilation planet.

For the prequels, it might be alright as is. It is like we talked about in another of your threads, where Obi-Wan is frozen and released by Anakin. Very interested to see how that would go, but I personally am not sure about Obi-Wan being directly involved in overthrowing the Republic to establish a Jedi theocracy (that’s more based on my presumption that Obi-Wan would have a different mentality he had from the High Republic than the “current” ideology of his fellow Jedi). You could still go for it, but maybe Obi-Wan’s reluctantly going along with it and/or he wishes to join to sway the other Jedi’s minds (or some other hullabaloo).

For the OT, Lara’s the only major change I recommended. Other than that, I can’t think of anything else. If you want to, maybe hint at the emperor surviving in spirit form or something akin to it.

For the epilogue stories, what you plan feels like a HUGE stretch, but it might work with the right tweaks and revisions. If you want to keep Lara there, maybe you can keep the time dilation planet or use carbonite instead. Luke’s ghost could guide Lara into rescuing the few who survived and taking them to Earth, which could be more hinted at than directly shown (so to keep the mystery).

That’s all I have. I dunno if it’s any good, but I hope it helps. Take care.

Thank you for your feedback!
I’m going to just post summuries not full blown scripts so the workload shouldn’t be that much
Having Lara in The OT is interesting and maybe I could use that.
The parralell stories thing with Luke I definitely plan with Mara Jade
As for Obi Wan wanting to overthrow the Republic I was going to have him reluctantly go along with the plan only because of the danger of Sidious
Also what do you think about my clone body Idea?

The Star Wars 12 Movie Saga Project (Need feedback desperately)
Time

I have always had a fascination with rewriting the prequels ever since I saw The Red Letter Media Review and Belated Media/Banditincorporated’s rewrites. However my amount of ideas has just kept growing and conflicting with each other. My ideas on how to rewrite ROTJ also threw a spanner in the works as well.I can’t fit all my ideas into 3 movies or in ROTJ’s case 1 movie.

Instead I hit upon the idea of making both The Prequel and Original trilogy 4 movies. However then I saw this post https://www.reddit.com/r/fixingmovies/comments/iostn9/george_lucass_original_12part_star_wars_plan/

and realized the potential of having two films at the beginning of the saga and two at the end that act as a Prologue featuring Obi Wan and a Coda featuring Luke’s twin sister Lara to the main two trilogies(now Tetrologies of course) that both have a massive timeskip of 1,000 years each (I’ll explain how in a moment).

Here are the names of the movies

Prologue:

Episode 1 The Jedi Apprentice

Episode 2 Crisis on Mandalore

Prequel Movies:

Episode 3 Disturbance in The Force

Episode 4 The Clone Wars

Episode 5 Edge of Darkness

Episode 6 Revenge of the Sith

Original’s:

Episode 7 A New Hope:Nothing Changed

Episode 8 The Empire Strikes Back:Nothing Changed

Episode 9 Sins of the Father

Episode 10 Wrath of the Emperor

Epilogue:

Episode 11 Will of the Force

Episode 12 A New Era

Obi Wan’s story will take place in The High Republic 1,000 years before the main movies. It deals with The First Clone War (The First Clone War featured Battle Droids with Cloned Brain matter) ,his adventures with his brother Ben and both their rivalries with Maul a young Sith Apprentice. It also features Ben’s love interest a princess of Utapau named Jeele. It ends with Obi Wan getting frozen in carbonite due to a series of events in a Jedi Civil War set into motion by The Kenobi Brothers over the rules of non attachment while Maul gets stuck in a different dimension of torment. Ben and Jeele both die of course

The Prequel Movies take place around 40 years before ANH in the closing days of The 6th Clone War (Sparrti Cylinder Clones this time)with a very diminished Jedi Order (same as u/sigmaecho rewrites) and other force wielding splinter groups. Things are set into motion with Anakin and his Brother in law Owen working on a Spice Freighter/Ship Scavenger when they find Obi Wan and get embroiled in the Clone Wars because of it. A lot of things happen such as Maul’s return,Mara Jades mother and Obi Wan, a fellow Jedi pupil named Zara, a roguish amphibious alien named Sol’kar who sounds and has a personality like this hilarious redubbing of Jar Jar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58yrGVFDHc8 (before you howl in outrage just watch the video) he does look different from Jar Jar of course ,Bail Organa’s as a general and Dooku’s (Dooku is around Anakins age and a pupil of Yoda) Knights of Balance( an order of Grey Jedi kind of like Jorrus from The Thrawn Trilogy)

However The main twist is of how Anakin became Darth Vader. This might be very unorthodox but I wan’t to do some unusual things with this rewrite along with some things very similar to what we got. In this Clone War many Jedi have been cloned and are used as shock troops and Anakin has been one of the ones Cloned. Eventually he fights singlehandedly 12 of his Clones who are dressed exactly like him (they are used for infiltration) but we don’t get to see the outcome except a badly wounded Anakin being found alive.

He makes a full recovery physically but mentally is slightly more unhinged. He has children with his wife but at the same time Obi Wan and Mace are planning to coup the Republic and turn it into a Jedi theocracy because they think the Chancellor is a Sith. Anakin becomes disillusioned with The Jedi order that has an elitist attitude towards the common man and an aloof attitude towards the war. Anakin kills Mace during the coup and falls to the dark side when Palpatine reveals himself to Anakin.

He tells him the truth. Anakin was killed during his duel with his clones but his spirit instead of leaving for the netherworld latched on to his surviving clone (clones are soulless btw) without realizing it. His spirit is now torn between his body and the netherworld. He has fulfilled a Sith Prophecy about a messaih called Darth Vader who will destroy The Jedi after his spirit miraculously switched bodies fter his death. Distraught and with nowhere else to turn Anakin joins Palpatine.

That’s all I can say about The Prequels right now

For the originals I’m being less radical and drawing more from Timothy Zahn and also The Dark Empire Comics. The first two movies are the exact same while the third and fourth are different. The Third especially is very different with Vader rebelling against The Emperor,Luke being captured by The Emperor and his struggle against the dark side, Mara Jade being Obi Wan’s daughter. The Fourth is more like ROTJ with Wookies,a Han who dies and all that jazz.

The last two movies (Coda)I don’t have concrete ideas for. The protagonist will probably be Luke’s sister who was split up by Yoda to a mysterious planet where time flows differently. (I can’t think of why though) It would be 1000 years after the Originals but the main villain could be anything from the Vong,The Whills or The ghost of Palpatine/Palagious. I’m toying with the idea that this conflict completely destroys the galaxy, scattering the species with The Humans led by Luke’s sister coming to Earth beginning human civilization as we know it with the events of the movies being chronicled in “The Journal of the Whills” before being locked away underground (The implication being that the filmmakers found the book in our time). But that’s probably a retarded Idea

Things I would like that are technically possible but would be a bitch to pull of

Making the Droids Clones and Clones regular soldiers. Maybe have the suggestion that The Droids have Cloned Brain matter of something? Deepfake all the Clone faces or even Deepfake the droids?

Make kid Anakin look Padmes age. Voice pitch lower, Deepfake face, make him look taller through shot selection or increase his size somehow with rotoscoping?

Have Owen be Anakin’s older brother. Deepfake someone for a few brief scenes, get other movies Joel Edgerton starred in and rotoscope him? Dubb him in ATOTC?

Make Grievous and Maul the same person. Dub Grievous but then also add a more climactic showdown between him and Obi Wan instead of just Obi Wan lamely shooting him through animation?

Add Dooku into TPM and set him up as either the bad guy or a rouge Jedi destroying the republic because the Sith have infiltrated it?

Making Naboo Alderaan and making Padme a relative of Bail

Take out C-3p0

Having The Ewoks in ROTJ look completely different or be Wookies through Deepfakes

Have The Second Death Star be some new superweapon

Redubb the whole Obi Wan-Luke conversation (no more "from a certain point of view"bs)

Have Han,Chewie and Lando Die (reediting? Not sure where we would get Leia’s reaction shot)

Have Luke walk off into the sunset (maybe Mandalorean footage?)
